The Great Gatsby Review

Check out my latest book review. I read The Great Gatsby this past week and then watched the 1974 movie as well as the brand new movie on Saturday. The video gets a little ranty towards the end, and my English lit major roots show through. Have any of you seen the new movie? What are your thoughts on it? Or on the old movie and/or the book?

Luna

Meet Luna, our new kitty. Last weekend was National Adoption Weekend, and though we weren't positive we would be adopting a new pet, Kyle and I are always on the lookout for the perfect pet addition to our little family so we thought we would take a look at the Humane Society. None of those pets seemed right for us, and we were about to go home when we decided to head to the county animal shelter just to take a look around. We looked at the cats and then at the dogs, none of them stood out. We went in to the cat section one more time when I stopped by the most beautiful cat I had ever seen. She was flame pointed, with silky creamy fur and HUGE blue eyes. I could have sworn she wasn't there the first time we looked around. Kyle and I fell in love and adopted her that afternoon. Luna and Bellatrix are getting along. Luna keeps her distance, and Bella looks longingly at her, wanting desperately to play. Our family feels a little more complete now that Luna is in our life.

Cover Flip

Have you guys seen this article about gendered book covers? Author Maureen Johnson issued a challenge to her Twitter followers to imagine famous book covers if the author had been of the opposite gender. I loved looking at all the designs, and it really got me thinking about just how many times I fall prey to judging a book by its cover.
